Is This Illegal? |
|
The Fuzzy Farm is not violating this Act, or any other animal protection act. The hair gathered for this process is hair that is normally shed from the animal: the animal is not harmed in any way in the process. We have contacted an attorney, and rest assured that this process is not illegal. The Act prohibits the sale of any cat or dog "fur". By definition, "fur" means the "skin or pelt." (see § 1308. Prohibition on importation of dog and cat fur products Items (1) and (5)). You may have seen an erroneous copy of this act, but we’ve reproduced the original Act below for you to verify. The Fuzzy Farm was started as a way to express our love for our pets. We would never intentionally do anything that would jeopardize the safety or well-being of our beloved pets! Remember that we are only spinning the hair that normally is shed by the animal. By brushing your pet more, you are actually helping make your pet’s coat healthier, and decidedly not harming your pet! |

We would NEVER harm a beloved animal! Feel free to verify that this process is completely legal with your lawyer. |
Many of you have contacted The Fuzzy Farm to inquire about the “Dog and Cat Protection Act of 2000.” |

We appreciate your concern, but this is NOT illegal. |
